Feb 1st Giveaway!

Image
Are you a snorer? You know what I mean when I say, "It drives people crazy!" and that was my hubby. I apparently snore. Who  knows for sure, you are not awake or paying attention to what's  happening while you sleep, right? I decided to start listing this advertiser after I tried their Rematee Anti-Snore Bumper Belt  and our son went into the business of snore aids for Canadians. I was amazed at the results. I wear mine over a nightie or if you are a guy, a t-shirt would  be appropriate. It fits nice and snug and with the adjustments you can make, I'm positive that if I can get it to fit over my breasts, then anyone can fit it properly. So there you have it, if you snore, this product is a reasonable priced way to alleviate the snoring that keeps everyone awake. How To Win? Simply go  by their website and place an order. If you are the first order placed on Feb 1, then they will refund you the entire cost taxes and all. You can't

Start Crazy Quilting with CQA2014

Image
Starting a crazy quilt often starts with a block of foundation fabric, I prefer to use muslin. I find that its forgiving as second and third layers of fabric pile up and you only notice this when you begin hand embroidery. I begin by starting in the middle, others will tell you that you've got to start here or there. But after 20 or so crazy quilts, I start where I like to and I suggest this only as something that works for me. Place one fabric chunk ( 5 sided first piece is nice) Moving reflectively across the block add new and interesting fabrics to the block KEEPING in mind that you always want to cover off any raw edges. Continue as you go. Its fun and there are no rules. Except for covering raw edges. Always press each new added fabric chunk. Here is my "Winter" seasonal block for our upcoming "Four Seasons Crazy Quilt" If you are participating with the Crazy Quilt Along 2014. Do you need more crazy quilting help?

Fat Burning Soup-I lost 10 lbs in 7 days!!

Image
Print Version is posted on side bar. Hello everyone, if you are trying to loose weight and don't believe all the scams of loosing weight out there, please try this little recipe. Its as simple as its written. I did the experiment, I wondered about the claim, but decided that if I lost only 2 lbs, that is better than loosing no pounds. I just wanted to loose weight and I had mostly all of the ingredients in my fridge anyway, so here it goes. The Basic Fat Burning Soup 1 can diced tomatoes 2-3 single green onions, chopped 1/2 bunch celery, chopped into 1/2 in. chunks or bigger 2 green peppers chopped ( I used yellow peppers) 1 pkge. Lipton soup mix ( I used 5 cubes of McCormick's all vegetable Bouillon) 1 litre of beef broth, unsalted or salted 4 cups water 2 cans of green  beans 6 med-large carrots, peeled and chopped 1 parsnip, peeled and chopped ( I didn't have one, plus I don't like them) Put all this into a large pot, add spices

Thank you 2013!

I recently read the  heartfelt summary of Esther's 2013 quilting year over at IPATCH. I just loved how she had laid everything out in a nice and friendly way. Her projects, her patterns and then her giveaway!  But the most outstanding detail of Esther is that she's only been writing her blog for only one year! If you haven't been over and checked out her stuff, then you are really missing out. Esther is a school teacher by day and a quilter by night. I've enjoyed reading her blog for about 6 months or so.I have one of her patterns on my Craftsy Wishlist. Its the Take A Bow A&B . I decided I'd look back on my 2013 and see what I've done. Actually looking back on my past year, its been super busy and I did lots of family visiting this past year. To start out in January 2012, I was well into the deep, intimate work of the Smithers 2013 Centennial Quilt. I began the year with this posting of the work being done on the Green Forest Craz

Hello friends and quilters, I'm back from a nasty flu/cold thing that just laid me flat out! I'm really happy to share that this Crazy Quilt Along 2014 is open to anyone! So do follow me!   Stitching below is from an experienced embroidery nut, who crazy quilts all the time, I'm raising my hand. Don't fret and think this is what I might  be expecting of my new friends participating in our CQA2014.  I'm not expecting anything other than participating and sharing a link to your blog when you comment. Your three stitches to concentrate on if you are a beginner are the Blanket Stitch, Chain Stitch and the Daisy Stitch .  That is all, I don't want you to get stressed about anything we are doing  here in this quilt along. Compare these two photos by going back and forth and seeing the difference from a beginner (BELOW PHOTO) and an experienced crazy quilter (ABOVE PHOTO) The photo below is from my winning quilt "Silver Linings Crazy Quilt

Sorry Readers! I'm just learning.

I'm just learning how to make up a linky party and doing it with Linky Tools. Has anyone used these tools before, because I'm  not finding this process easy so far, your thoughts and comments please?   I made this cute table runner for my friend in Glenvowel, near Hazelton, B.C. Do tell, who do you use for a linky party? I'd love to know, common, spill the beans, who do you love to host your Linky Party's? Carli

Stitching and the blues

Image
I have more time than some, I'm dealing with pain on a fairly regular basis in a spontaneous kind of way. I listen to alot of blues music. I'm limited shall we say. My hubby is a one man band and I'm constantly listening to blue via You Tube videos. Its great! This is one that I like alot! <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/kx1ffuDoy6I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Today I was telling my CAQ2014 new friends that crazy quilting for me was something that came from the soul. It fed me, just like water to a parched traveler would on a weary way. CQ has been a pleasurable ride with lots of learning curves along the way. Sometimes I get the  blues wishing things were different. Listening to so much blues has reminded me that I shall overcome! Some online bloggers have everything all organized down to the minute details of a blog posting. I don't. I am not so incli

Just thinking?

Have you heard of the Story of Stuff? I'm having a  blast going through all sorts of things in my studio and on my old computer, just to be 100% sure that everything has been transferred to my new Christmas present. I found this and thought it to very poignant reminder that all things go around and sometimes that go around is just a reminder that we all need to make some significant changes in what we buy, what we throw away and how can we all have a novel way to tell others about it. Please visit the web site and founder of The Story of Stuff. My own quiet moment of realizing that I too, have a footprint on this earth as we all do and this helps me to realize the insanity of collecting stuff. Got to Love it, Carli
