This is the beginning of a new needle case for a friend. Life is getting busier somehow. Semi retirement has not been as relaxed, dreamy tea sipping and reading kind of time. Am I the only one that thinks the whole darn world is going faster somehow? I did find some time to visit Moss Street Market in Victoria and I was really surprised with the turn out! Thousands of people attending, and it was so hot, thank goodness we caught occassional gusts of ocean breezes. I've been culling out my stash and hoping for inspiration and it will come, just not recently! I laugh at how silly I am, keeping all sorts of bits and bobs and they are gone now, onto others who will find inspiration in them. I kept only what really is my favorite stuff. You'd be surprised when you ask yourself  "does this bring me joy" if it does, then I keep it. But if I am being completely honest, it has to go. This is a flashback photo to 2006! Family visiting from down south, this is one of the little fantastic cabins at Round Lake Resort. Highly recommended if you are visiting the Bulkley Valley. I finally found some time to update all that's been happening with me since the lovely wedding our oldest son to our beautiful daughter in law in August. I  What you see below is the fully finished Hexie Quilt before the borders and machine quilting were done. It took me 18 months of doing only one thing. That experience taught me a lot. I don't like working only on one project at a time.  But even though I did complete this for the wedding of course, but still don't have any updated photos from the wedding, I think maybe Christmas is the time we'll see these photos. Good Morning Ladies and Gents, Them or They! Its been hot as blazes in Duncan, B.C. this past couple of weeks, we went from spring time cloudy days of 22-25 degrees to 32 to 35 and not a cloud anywhere! Enough on the weather. I wanted to catch you all up on more projects that I've been up to in my stitching life. I don't know about you, but this self isolation has not been tough. I like being on my own, stitching away, chatting on IS and sorting through projects way too long to talk about that are still not finished. But County Claire blocks are busy evening blocks, getting these done so I can place them into quilt for my sister.Of course, she doesn't know this and we won't tell her, will we?? Hi Everyone, I have been unsuccessful in posting any of my new work since early June when I posted last. Google Suite upgrade has changed many things and settings, etc have been disrupted. But now, after muddling through, I've found that now Blogger allows adding photos directly from Google Photos. Well that is an improvement. But I missed the memo! 😀 This quilt is for my son and he's an Arborist so he wanted prints of a manly color and without too many girly fabric, so I had to dig deep. I love this pattern Wonky Rail Fence from Sujata Shah's book Cultural Fusion Quilts. I need 42 16 inch blocks to be ready for a flimsy. This quilt has a deadline, Dec 25th!! So I've been using up the pre-cut, pre-sewn main strips and working on individual blocks in between all my other quilting projects. You can kinda see how it will eventually look from the photo below. I've quietly working away on multiple projects. Some hand work, some machine work and some in between. Its been a wee bit sad around our home with two friends being ill with similar issues and losing one of them has taken its tole on me. I get reflective and don't chat much. I have sewing more clothing for myself. I'm really getting off on it actually! And our busy girl who goes to work with her Master needed a work gear upgrade which I happily made for her. Plus springtime is finally happening in the Cowichan Valley. And my shoes with a lift on my left shoe has become the new normal.  I've had to undergo a lot of pain, swelling, repeated injections and I walked with a left a waking cast for nearly 7 months. All in an effort to save the mobility I still have. I have arthritis, asthma and a sciatic nerve that gets pointy and excited really easy. This new project is scheduled for completion by March 1...
