I thought this idea of recording whats on your bed to be a great idea. After all, we're all quilters and do have the best hobby in the world! Quilting. This is my Grandma's Garden quilt that is on my bed most of the winter, its lined with wool batting, washing this is a production, but well worth it. No, it was not handed down from a great granny or anything like that! I found this quilt on Ebay and purchased it for $25 including shipping from somewhere in the USA. So sad that someone didn't want it, its all hand sewn together and hand quilted. Its a king size plus, so there is lots of quilts for everyone in the bed. This means, I don't hog the quilt anymore!:) All the best, Carli

I am digging into my stash and finding sultry vintage fabrics, solid colors and soft pretty petal styles of fabric to go with this collection. I have an awesome new pattern on the drawing sheet! This is what got me excited; imagine these fabrics together in one quilt?  These lovely fat quarters are what I've been waiting for to arrive. Its a great little bundle from Miscellany. I've got some ideas, like maybe pinwheels or applique something? I work with the pattern in my head & on paper until I'm ready to proceed! What do these selections make you think? But then I think piecing might be just the cat's meow for these and the vintage fabrics I'm picking out. Its the start of a brand new idea and you never know for sure until you are well into it as to whether you've got something special. I use snippets of the prints and copy them into my pattern. See if I like it, see if it does it for me, then I send it out to my girl friends for ...

I achieved a measure of performance this past summer that my business counselor would be proud of. I was organized, ready to learn more and then realised I didn't have any proper signage for the booth. It was two days before the fall fair event.We were really pushed for time with opening dates for the fair, just around the corner. We had everything organized when I realised my business sign was still unresolved. This is how I came to be in this pickle. I had asked a local wood signmaker to make me a wood sign for my business. She agreed and I carried on with custom quilt making and organic cotton retailing. This was way back in July and when I went by her house in early August, she had  been away, had forgotten all about making the sign and was going away again! I swallowed hard, thanked, told her it was my fault that I hadn't followed up on her earlier. I'm glad now that it happened. Otherwise I'd not have made 15 quilts in one day.  I decided on Dr. Sue...

I found the Pay It Forward on Ivona's blog from Serbia I think. Anyway, its about helping to share our special parts of this wonderfully huge world of quilting and crafting.  T-shirts can go into a quilt and its all quite simple. Here is an example of what I do with t-shirts, logo from sweatshirts, and other personal items a customer want in this quilt. This location is the Tyhee Provincial Park and Campground.  My client called me about 2 weeks into the project and said "Carli, I've got this other T-shirt that I'd like in the quilt" I had to tell her the planning had been done and I could make an awesome cushion for the quilt from the T-shirt.  I am very grateful that all my clients let me decide how things will look in the finished quilt. I like to make the quilts reversible, so this is the back side. Colors chosen and prints are matched to what I know about the client and usually they turn out scrappy and completely different.   This lovely twin size quilt was made in the 1970's by Katrina Penner of Quick, BC. She was a former member of Quick WI until she passed away a few years ago. Her daughter Louise donated the quilt top to our group so we could quilt it up and donate it to one of our neighbors who lost her home in a fire. Donated machine quilting by yours truly, binding too! So much fun, many ladies helped from our local ladies of Quick WI.

Round Robin Quilt Exchanges are so much fun! I've done a few and I recommend you participate if you have the time to really put into it. This one started out with one block 12.5 inches square, then the next person put on one border, then the next another border and then you finish it. As you can see this version of border adding round robin, allows for tons of creativity in the work each quilt does on each others quilt. Mine in the top right, outdoorsey version with trees and lots of green. Participants added log cabin blocks, paper pieced tree blocks and it all came together into a great quilt. Its one of my 2011 UFO's still to complete. Nancy's quilt was sort of a winter theme, as you can see its come out fabulous. I did the last border on this and would love to see the finished version. The last border was the applique flowers, quirky technique that was so much fun to do. Joanne's lovely crazy pieced blue's quilt just says "love ya ...
