I am always honoured to make someone a memory quilt. As time has passed in my quilting life, spanning 50 years. I've become very humbled by each new request for a Memory Quilt. Its always a bit exciting, I let the clothing talk to me, my sense of the spirit in the clothing guides me thru. It's emotional, so let yourself cry a little. I joined the Nanaimo Quilt Guild earlier this year and attended my first guild retreat. It was held at the Homewood Camp on Quadra Island and its a great site and these are some of the highlights of quilts made during and before the event. It rained everyday we were there and only had a wee bit of sunshine on the day we left. But it was still awesome to quilt every day with new friends.  

My cazy quilting has come to pass by me again, like a muse, the crazies are alwasy present and watching me like a crone would do. (If you wish to see a closer photo of this work, click on the image) Have you read anything about crones my friend? I stumbled upon the work of Barbara G. Walker about a decade ago. Women's spirituality is the main thrust of her work and its wonderful to learn more about being a crone yourself.  A lot of my character is based on giving, improving their lives in some way and encouraging women. I used stitching to help teens become more confident and women to aspire to a different calling via stitching.  In all the workshops I've taught, I have enjoyed a group of 5 - 7 women, its seems to be a good amount of voices. I am a women who lives with a man, has raised 2 male children to adulthood and have only a few female friends, but of those few, these women are proud, sensitive, worldly yet a little naive and love nature. Alberta Blue quilt is ongoing and without a goal for a finished date. Not much to talk about, just applique and machine sewing and more applique. But having fun anyway! Happy Stitching everyone! Carli  

I gotta tell you I purchased this from an online shop in Australia. I love Welsh Quilts! This is my dresden plate template crazy quilt. I know, what was I thinking? But I'm liking it so far and the lime green is a maybe, what do you think of the green color?  Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment below? Hi Everyone, I have been unsuccessful in posting any of my new work since early June when I posted last. Google Suite upgrade has changed many things and settings, etc have been disrupted. But now, after muddling through, I've found that now Blogger allows adding photos directly from Google Photos. Well that is an improvement. But I missed the memo! 😀 This quilt is for my son and he's an Arborist so he wanted prints of a manly color and without too many girly fabric, so I had to dig deep. I love this pattern Wonky Rail Fence from Sujata Shah's book Cultural Fusion Quilts. I need 42 16 inch blocks to be ready for a flimsy. This quilt has a deadline, Dec 25th!! So I've been using up the pre-cut, pre-sewn main strips and working on individual blocks in between all my other quilting projects. You can kinda see how it will eventually look from the photo below. I am experimenting and not just with one thing, but many in my pursuit of the continued love of stitching. This is based on a photo sent by my friends Todd and Charrine Lace of @charrinelace and upon deciding on how to go forward with creating my first ever stitched art like this became a new adventure and more is coming along on that vein. His portrait went into the Town of Smithers Centennial Quilt 2013, which has now come back to me for safe keeping. What are you trying out? I've found a lovely and simple, thank goodness for me knitted and then felted slipper pattern. I found it online, but can't find it again to share it, but its out there.

I just love crazy quilts. This 32 1/2 in square quilt is one that again, I worked on over years.😊😊 I believe I started the centerpiece Heart back in 2006 while recovering from total knee replacement. The hand embroidery was a fun activity in between all the exercises in recovery.  I did Feather stitch across all the seams on the heart shape. Then I was stuck with what to do for the continuing project.  You know how that goes. But as time went on, I discovered the beautiful rust colored satin in a vintage thrift store and I knew the next stage immediately. On this Heart Crazy quilt, I actually combined braid piecing in the heart, not crazy at all, but then the stitiching helps to pull all that into focus. You'd hardly notice the variance if I hadn't brought it up. Nevertheless, its taken to a new home with gusto. I have soooo many things to finish, I don't know if I can even come up with a list of it all.  #FAL2019 really got me thinking. I have to get serious about finishing my work. I confess, I do tend to lean towards eclectic. I walk with my hand of creation diaily and the load gets heavier instead of lighter. When I opened a drawer of two of unfinished projects, I closed it immediately! Phuef! That was close to a stressful moment. I am avoiding stress in any form these days. But after a while, the drawer memory crept back in and I opened it. I need to do that for self protection. Ok, so here is the one photo for now to let you really see my 'unfinishedness" problem. I have been moving around far too much and have accumulated 19 finished tops in one drawer and 27 various bits, blocks and roundy things in the other drawer. Plus upon my tidying up today, I discovered at least that more in another area of my sewing room. So that is it for me. Time to knuck...
