Three Hour "Baby" Top Tutorial

I have fallen in love with this technique again. Three Hour Block Magic.

I decided not to crop my photos of these because I wanted you to see the potential folks!

This block is so simple but wild and crazy, my two favorite combinations in quilts.

The colors chosen by the new Mom were cream and brown. I pulled a bunch of brownish and cream fabrics.
I'm not sure this works for me as a Baby quilt?

What do you think?

Now, just to be clear, this post is using the instructions from my wee tutorial of my Three Hour Table Runner from back in 2011.

This has been a real fast check up on the instructions from the Three Hour Table Runner tutorial, so please refer back to this post for these reminders.

Stay tuned for these changes and the results. Today I'm linking up with Confessions of a Fabric Addict and A Quilted Passion.

Its chilly -6 C. today, I'd say some sort of a winter is yet to come!

Happy Quilting everyone!

  1. I think that these days any colour seems to be fine for babies. Personally I've never been a fan of the traditional pink and blue pastels. If I had my choice I'd always make the bright crayon colours because it's been proven that babies see them better.

  2. Those are pretty popular baby quilt colors now - my nieces and nephew asked for the same.
I love the way you improv quilt and love the combination of fabrics you used Caroline! Come and link up with the Ad hoc Improv group this month, if you can. It's a lot of fun and ios held the last Tuesday of each month at Sew Slowly and at Fret Not Yourself (Kaja and Ann share hosting the linky party.)

    1. Hi Lara, thank you so much for your encouraging comments, I need this feedback! I was uncertain and now confirmation of the colors will allow me to move towards a finished top soon.
I will pop over and visit your sites mentioned. I love improv, its totally where my head is at, quilting is supposed to be fun and careful, not stressful. Thanks so much for the invitation!!

    1. Hi there, Patio garden furniture, thank you for your comment! I don't use brown prints much, I guess and this request was a bit daunting, but now I feel better with some feedback!

  5. Fun piecing, I like it! I also saw your hand quilting a few days ago, beautiful. My computer was acting up that day and shut off before I could leave a comment. Great work.

    1. Hi Janie, thank you so much! Where I live, its not so easy to find others who quilt and not always easy for me to get to anything that is happening, so hearing the views of others is very important to me.
Funny, my Internet modem seems to have a problem. I have to unplug the modem, wait 10 minutes, then plug it back in before I can get Internet. So my silence of late commenting on any other blogs has been challengin for me too!
      Cheers, happy quilting!

    1. Thanks Zenia, I have moved to a more softer color selection for this baby quilt and this top will become a table runner! Thanks for popping over!
