I've posted more than 400 posts! Wow, and how the time has flown? This post is just a tiny look back on all that has been created here on Good Earth Quilting. I still have yet to finish this lovely "Mexacalli Quilt" and now I've seen it again, its actually hiding somewhere in my studio, come my little mexi-kitty, come now, where are you? I've included hundreds of links to various interesting sites and this is one of them . This link takes you to SD62 on Vancouver Island where Kindergarten has taken to the woods. This fine long time quilter used only recycled materials in all her quilts. I started out in 2007 with the ideas of helping others learn how to reuse, reduce and recycle. But as time went on, my local contact became bored with all the recycling talk and I noticed that people didn't comment on recycling posts, Now, 8 years later, so many blogs and people have become more centered on not wasting precious global energy and hav...

Modern Makeover UFO

I just love the action and creativity that comes when I'm stumped and I just let go..... Do you ever do your creative process this way. It must come from the deeper side of my quilting, the one of a kind quilts I make for clients. Remember this quilt, really it was going nowhere fast!! 'Into the garbage' were the thoughts I had several times as I stored, refolded and buried this quilt. I just didn't like it and that doesn't happen often. But as the desire to finish things became an obsession whilst doing the canning and harvesting of garden produce! Its amazing, it must be the awesome work done by my chiropractor! I'm feeling less pain everyday and this provides new energy. I simply started by cutting off the four blocks surrounding the hexies. Then came the next round of cutting, I went crazy cutting over two blocks at a time. Then I created new fabric in a round about crazy fashion in 5 inch strips. It was fun start...

Q3 Finish Along List

Image
This list is ambitious, but why not, its only summer and busy people gets things done! I'm so glad that On The Windy Side has hosted and lead this great way to Finish Things. This list is my one post of all the quilt tops that I intend to finish, so keep the comments coming, its so great to read what other people think of my quilts.  Thank you Adrianne! Isn't her banner below so stunning, its from her blog title. It must be a bunch of work to organize this and her crew as well are busy too behind the scenes. Thank you to all of you who help with choosing the winners for this great little way to get some finishes under your belt. This must an influence from watching the Calgary Stampede on CBC TV is making me talk like a cowboy! This is a table runner I am making for myself and my home. Its my own design, not too complicated but I decided to make it into a tutorial. So I made another one of course. Next up is my version of a Modern C...

UfO Round Up

I'm on a UFO busting assault on the blue bins. I have reached a point in my life where what's around me must reinforce my life in a positive way. Part of me feels that if I'd really wanted to finish them I would have done so long ago. I'm designing behind the scenes and writing stuff that makes me happy.  Some of these UFO's are just going to have to find their way without me. You know what I mean? I'm really serious quilters, my UFO's must go out into the universe.  I've left those memories aside along the path I'm on now.  My life is my own and I can share what I want to do, even if its a bit of a rant! I am not seeing a clear path, but a path has opened up for me and things that don't simply move me forward with new ideas just cannot stay any longer. Read about this lead up here  as I tried to convey how many beautiful half done or almost done projects. Oh my Lord, I need some Blogger Love quilters. This long...

I n an effort to get some projects done, I've decided on these for June, wish me luck! These little cuties were intended for project and didn't quite get done yet. I have several crazy quilted projects on the go. This was the project I participated in with Paper Pieced Bowls and my salmon. This at least has a name, Pretty Petals but yet unfinished. This is winter crazy block that does need to be done. This is a recycled wool wall project. This is my version of Midnight Over the Oasis of Jen Kingwell's pattern. I'm off to give this bunch a good go at completing these for June. Happy Quilting everyone! Carli

Country Quilt Show and Links

Rusty has that look on her face, she is telling me she wants to come along too!  So I gave in and she came along.   Its very small and if you blink you'd miss it. But quaint homes and laughing people at the local gas station greet a newcomer to Fort Fraser, B.C. The parking lot beside the hall was pretty full and I had my favorite companion along with me. She required shade and open windows. So I managed to "Go 4x4ing" with my Toyota Corolla! I eased my car in underneath a tall shady tree at the farthest part of the parking lot. My car was lopsided and looked like I was trying to climb the tree, but Rusty didn't care! This fly hook is only one of dozens that decorate the border of this following quilt done by Debbie Petteplace. Its simply stunning This photo doesn't do this quilt justice. When I saw this fish quilt I immediately fell in love with this one made by Debby Petteplace which she made for her son.  I just loved the tempe...
