New Projects and a new Magazine- Piecework

Image
Good Morning Ladies and Gents, Them or They! Its been hot as blazes in Duncan, B.C. this past couple of weeks, we went from spring time cloudy days of 22-25 degrees to 32 to 35 and not a cloud anywhere! Enough on the weather. I wanted to catch you all up on more projects that I've been up to in my stitching life. I don't know about you, but this self isolation has not been tough. I like being on my own, stitching away, chatting on IS and sorting through projects way too long to talk about that are still not finished. But County Claire blocks are busy evening blocks, getting these done so I can place them into quilt for my sister.Of course, she doesn't know this and we won't tell her, will we?? As you can see, I'm really out on a limb of getting creative using up what I have in my stash. I do have an overall GOLD color that is the general directions for her new quilt. And I highly recommend this new magazine cause its cool! Upcycling is becoming mainstream. Due to th...

Hexie Portable Project

I fell right in love with hexagon quilts made by Karen over at Fairies and Fibres.  Karen is so generous and helpful, I'd just love to get in the car and do a road trip, really! But in the meantime, I needed to get some supplies. Alas, my supplies in my temporary studio are a tad lacking. So off I went down the road to this lovely little shop in the Cordova Bay shopping center called "Calico Cupboard" and wow, you'll be surprised when you walk in this shop! First of all, they use paper bags to package up your purchases! And then they carefully fold everything into this neat little package. Thanks Suzanne! And I'm carefully organizing some choice birthday gift for Mr. Goodearthquilting! Now, getting back to Karen's work with Hexie's. I really love the work she does by hand on the majority of her quilts. Karen has proven her worth with hexie quilts. I learned about her most recent quilt along Millefiori QAL over at Kat...

Pretty Quilts in Victoria, B.C.

Image
Our son and girlfriend made room for us in the living room at their home in Victoria, B.C. This lovely traditional style quilt was made by Micaela's grandma and its hand quilted. Wow, its like a step back in time, hand stitching impeccable and straight as an arrow. Jon's grad quilt is still being used and loved, I made this one back in 2005 and its holding up really well. It was a lovely 23 C. each day and I noticed a bunch of tourists wearing parka's. It must have felt a tad cold to them. But we still went for lunch to our favorite lunch spot, the famous Sam's Deli. Yummy sandwiches and great staff!! I totally recommend this place for lunch whenever you are visiting Victoria, B.C.  Arbutus Cove Park is one special spot and has a gorgeous pebble beach that is quite and great swimming too! Happy Quilting everyone, I've also been canning my brains out and going between the heat pad and the kitchen to get it all ...
