Scrappy Hexie Table Runner is Machine Quilted

Image
The clouds have lifted into a beautiful evening sky last night! I made awesome progress on Sunday with machine quilting three projects waiting in the wings for a completion date. Remember this one below?  This Christmas Table Runner has reached the point of binding it and then its complete. Its so fun to machine quilt smaller projects! I'm just glad to have reached some finishing in this crazy womb of quilting! You know who will relate that room being called a womb. Cheers my friend Nola. I tried different techniques to reacquaint myself with machine quilting again. I'm planning on a special Christmas post, that will give this lovely Christmas Table Runner a nice place to show off. Hope you are all having fun quilting!

Modern Makeover Finish!

Image
Hello, folks!  I'm really happy to have this little quilt all finished up and I delivered it yesterday to my friend Myrtle. As you all know by now, that this quilt was an issue of what to do with it from when I decided it just wasn't' working for me.  I'm not wasteful and enjoy the challenge of taking risks in my designs. i believe that if you just hate the finished quilt, it can always become an awesome doggie quilt! I took a risk to cut the small quilt top apart and start fresh like It seemed to take on a new life, one that was guided by another hand. I meditated on this risk and adopted the motto from WW 2 "Stay Calm and Carry On" I was feeling pretty happy the day I took these photos at one of our local United Churches. This lovely little church has so much local history and it resides at the end of St. John the Devine Church on Quick West Rd in Telkwa. When hand quilting began, I was some what overwhelmed for a few days...

Modern Table Runner Finish!

Image
This Modern Table Runner has been so much fun to make and to machine quilt. Yes, this little quilt has been happening over several days of little bits here and there. For more on this pop over to the first post on this table runner! About the only organizing that I did was to seek out pink from my fat quarters. I just love Free Spirit Fabrics. I do hope that Micaela will love this and use it often. When I looked at this, I knew it needed more solid colors around the outside. Anyone can make a lovely Modern Table Runner like this, you know! Its just deciding to go ahead and be brave and take a few risks.  I fell in love with this Dupont Silk , it washed like a dream. And it looks lovely against my new flooring in the studio and bathroom. Machine quilting it was no big deal compared to other fabrics I use. It was a good fit. Mother's Day Quilt

Image
I just love it when I get a special commission for a Mom. My client wanted a small lap quilt for her Mom for Mother's Day. The photo transfer via email were sent to me and then onto my special professional that makes photo transfers perfect that last a very long time. I started with bordering each 11 x 8.5 inch Parent photo transfer with gold. Then I bordered each of the children and grandchildren in red and set it all into a grey background. I was playing around before the client picked it up and this is taken inside our RV. I had some restrictions to color red, grey and blue, I added the gold and it was a good choice because the upper top area required something more fancy than the FAMILY name which was done in Gold. I included the variation of square in a square to making it flashy, just a bit.  And here is Mom and Daughter holding the beloved quilt. Thank you C. Happy Quilting, Carli

Hexie's On My Mind

Image
Well, the solids are working into interesting Dresden Plates, but I have nothing yet to show you, so I started working on "Hand-Work-Projects" for my upcoming summer of fishing. Thank goodness, that I've finally figured out what to change in my life to help my back, so I can get back to our favorite couple activity of fishing! When I think of hand work projects, I go right to either hexies or log cabin blocks. This was my last effort with hexies, so I've overdue to start of up something with my little hexies and larger hexies as well.  This cute table runner did win first prize in our 2004 Bulkley Valley Fall Fair in hand quilting and hand piecing category. I do love hand piecing as well, as I blogged about when I was working on the Midnight Over the Oasis quilt along with the lovely Jess of TheElvenGarden . This was hand piecing from my start on the Midnight Over the Oasis by Jen Kingsley. Then I fell in love again when I saw this little cutey fr...
