Modern Makeover Finish!

Image
Hello, folks!  I'm really happy to have this little quilt all finished up and I delivered it yesterday to my friend Myrtle. As you all know by now, that this quilt was an issue of what to do with it from when I decided it just wasn't' working for me.  I'm not wasteful and enjoy the challenge of taking risks in my designs. i believe that if you just hate the finished quilt, it can always become an awesome doggie quilt! I took a risk to cut the small quilt top apart and start fresh like It seemed to take on a new life, one that was guided by another hand. I meditated on this risk and adopted the motto from WW 2 "Stay Calm and Carry On" I was feeling pretty happy the day I took these photos at one of our local United Churches. Modern MakeOver-Hand Quilting

Image
Hello quilters, wherever you are, I hope it's lovely outside! Today, I awoke very early in the morning and our cabin was a little chilly. The woodstove warmed up the inside really fast and I sat down to a coffee and a hand quilting project. I've decided to do hand quilting because this quilt has so much cream solid color in it and I thought it would be really fun to make the dark areas pop up. I've added a 5 inch border of cream solid colored cotton to the borade and now those crazy blocks just popped! But for some reason that photo will not load! I'm linking up with Needle and Thread Network today! Happy Quilting Everyone!

Nothing even measured, I just kept a good 1/4 in seam allowance and sewed with Baby Lock Melody machine slowly through all the bumps as seams collided with each other. I mean collided. Collisions like atoms and explosions. I love this freedom! Once the Ta Da moment of finished flimsey came for me, I was out the door so fast that my dog ran into her bed and was still inside when I came home. You see I don't have majestic museums or long sandy beaches to place my quilts up against for a great photo. But I do have our little old timey celebrity of the historic Quick Anglican Church . While I've decided that this is a finished top, I do think this wild and free play could be made i...
