A little rural stitching and gardeing!

Image
I'm outside lots this year and it feels so good to get outside and play in dirt!! Spring is here and we're  busy outside with gardening and camping! I can't remember if I have already posted this, but these two wall quilts are made by me for my friend Myrtle. Myrtle hand beaded the owl and flower, both of these are going to Myrtle's grand-daughters. Lots quad riders checking out the river a few weeks ago. No more ice on the river, just its usual spring run off water event as in the little ditch run off by Quick Station Rd. Then new stuff with angels in mind is on my design desk . And I'm finishing up a Christmas gift for my son, Jon as in the photo below! So this is all for me today. I'm linking up with Needle and Thread Network. Happy quilting and gardening folks! Carli

Garage Sale Saturday!

Image
Garage sales are fun, they provide a welcome little look into a person's life. You are laying out things that were once important. And the rain didn't stop anytime soon. More tarps just went up and the wind played havoc with our tarps. The puddles grew larger. By 8 am, we were wondering what kind of a dismal display of 'garage salers' would even come by. We are located 31 km's from Smithers and this is a long way to go. But people came and laughed and talked, lots of stuff went off our property. Lucky for us, our karma swarmed with interest in both our garage sale items and our property. It was awesome fun to give away things, just because and to accept a lower price just  because you knew they couldn't afford anything more.  :) You know? Its not always about how much money is made from your garage sale! Its about community, talking, joking, selling to friends and letting things go. Letting the past wash away into the...

Mother's Day Weekend-My Choice

Image
My whole Mother's Day weekend was a total distraction and blast of back-roading fun and adventure! Here's how it all panned out.  I thought I'd take along some hand work to maybe play with if fishing was going good for Rick, but as it turned out, I didn't even get to it. Living here in Northern BC, we always have a check in a friend, just in case we aren't seen again, someone can at least know where we went. We headed out after breakfast down the Lawson Rd and onto the Houston Mainline, which is a very fast, almost smooth main logging truck highway. Its gravel and you can actually drive at speeds of 100km's on this gravel highway. As you can see from these two photo's, we ran into not just one blow down across the road to Poplar Lake, but 4 times, we lugged the branches and logs out of the way. But then came this one! It was a doozey! My hubby had brought his chain saw, (just in case of this) and on this last one, his patience of the w...
