Wow, three weeks have gone by since I last posted, the time is flying by so quickly.This is what keeps me going!! I try really hard to live by this creed of Ghandi's. It has a prominent place in my sewing room. It gives me hope, when I have to make decisions that are not popular with others or have to brave ahead with only closest of friends behind me. Please don't think that making a Centennial Quilt is like my own private thing. Its strange, in my own home turf, few quilters have come forward to participate. I'm so glad that I have my good friend Nola to rescue me from the toil of the entire project on my shoulders.  Thank you Nola, you are a trooper good friend! I was chatting online with a friend of mine who lives in Grand Forks, BC. Our conversation made me think of the people that participated with the 1897-1997 quilt for Grand Forks. A special hello to all my followers! Thank you so much for reading my  blog and being interested in learning more about how to be a green quilter! I'll be posting all the finishes I'm currently working on as they are done. This little quilt is actually my own quilt. Yep after the dozens of quilts I've made over the years, even before this blog, I didn't make any quilts for myself. You know how it went back then, I didn't think about taking photos, that was before I became a blogger! I started this quilt in the 1990's, hand sewing the various log cabin blocks from random scraps. I took this scraps along in a special back pack when I went bar fishing with my hubby.  Then we moved three times since starting this. Then the inner off white muslin border became stained, then I had to wash the unfinished quilt. Again, absent mindedly, I didn't think of the mess of snags from the fabric on the back side. Our area is spread out, we're all living within the area of British Columbia that is full of rich natural resources. Our garden helps with growing fine, fresh produce each summer. We are Canadians and other nationalities who sometimes live here full time, sometimes part time and most recently, we're becoming a baby boom town of new families.  This photo was taken during the summer of 2003 when forest fires plagued our province and we had one during this late summer. This is the size of fish we catch every year in the various rivers around our beautiful Bulkley Valley! This photo is actually of me, catching my first 37 lb spring salmon in 2004. It was a rainy day, but we're prepared for just about anything and we tough the elements out. The families and quilters who make this area their home also are farmers, loggers, snowmobile riders, hockey players, rodeo riders, school teachers etc. We are very lucky to have a wide variety of wilderness opport...
