World Blog Hop Introducing a Crazy Quilter

Image
I really pumped to be involved with this World Blog Hop from an invite from Dolores of  True Blue Canadian blogger. I've been following Dolores for several years now and encourage you to follow her too! Its always a little scary and a little wired to be tooting your own horn! I take on way too much for my own good. As was the community project of a very large 7.5 feet across by 5.5 feet down art quilt that celebrates the wonderful Town of Smithers, B.C. I donated this in May of 2013. If any of you are visiting our beautiful valley, you'll see this quilt at the front office of the Town of Smithers. I have written several patterns and not published them, one of these did get published in the B.C. born and thriving Quilter's Connection magazine with my Snow Town Folk pattern . I'm going to be sharing some more of this interesting and quirky pattern in later posts. If you are an ice fisher person yourself, then this fun pattern will make you laug...

Women's Institute 2014 Spring Conference

Image
If you went to search online for women's institute you might find the definition of found in  wikipedia  you'd read that it all started in  Llanfairpwllgwyngyll ,  Anglesey  and that  " It had two clear aims: to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War". My grandmother was a founding member of one of the branches in in or around Chapel-en-le-frith, Darbyshire, England, I'm still on the hunt to find out this exact information. But regardless, she'd be proud of me, I'm sure! Our annual conference was lead by our esteemed President Geneva Wiseman of Southside Branch.  We have a minute of silence for those members who have passed on after another member reads out the accomplishments of those members. Our world logo ...

Thank you 2013!

I recently read the  heartfelt summary of Esther's 2013 quilting year over at IPATCH. I just loved how she had laid everything out in a nice and friendly way. Her projects, her patterns and then her giveaway!  But the most outstanding detail of Esther is that she's only been writing her blog for only one year! If you haven't been over and checked out her stuff, then you are really missing out. Esther is a school teacher by day and a quilter by night. I've enjoyed reading her blog for about 6 months or so.I have one of her patterns on my Craftsy Wishlist. Its the Take A Bow A&B . I decided I'd look back on my 2013 and see what I've done. Actually looking back on my past year, its been super busy and I did lots of family visiting this past year. To start out in January 2012, I was well into the deep, intimate work of the Smithers 2013 Centennial Quilt. I began the year with this posting of the work being done on the Green Forest Craz...
