Bits and Bobs, slow stitching

Image
This is the beginning of a new needle case for a friend. Life is getting busier somehow. Semi retirement has not been as relaxed, dreamy tea sipping and reading kind of time. Am I the only one that thinks the whole darn world is going faster somehow? I did find some time to visit Moss Street Market in Victoria and I was really surprised with the turn out! Thousands of people attending, and it was so hot, thank goodness we caught occassional gusts of ocean breezes. I've been culling out my stash and hoping for inspiration and it will come, just not recently! I laugh at how silly I am, keeping all sorts of bits and bobs and they are gone now, onto others who will find inspiration in them. I kept only what really is my favorite stuff. You'd be surprised when you ask yourself  "does this bring me joy" if it does, then I keep it. But if I am being completely honest, it has to go. This is a new piece that works into the forest fires of BC again are going strong and many peo...

Happiness Quilt Finished

Image
This quilt is finally a real comletely finished quilt on my bed! We started using it Nov 30th,2019 as the coolness of wet air, brisk winds and rain began to come on often and for days at a time. Sometimes, I wonder what a monsoon is like? 😊 I wanted the scrappy old fashioned feel that took me to a thoughtful place. This quilt is my second personal king sized quilt to make. These blocks could write a romance novel. They could giggle like a school girl from the compliments of men. They were the remnants of a bag of fabric I bought at a thrift store many years ago. Perhaps in the Kootenay Country in the 1990's. Many of these were hand pieced while sitting waiting for my Skeema River fish bell to go off! Many blessed memories that now, my husband I look back on fondly.  These blocks were not "planned" to be scrappy, they just were, simple as that. Ideas, ideas and then moving twice was not fun. This poor quilt just kept on getting left in the b...

Forest Fire Quilts Project

Image
Hello again to all quilters and welcome to new quilters reading my post for the first time here at Good Earth Quilting.  Its not winter yet, thankfully, but this photo is one that I'm sharing to show the loss these two folks have suffered at the long handed flames of forest fires in B.C. this summer. This home and barns took a lifetime to build and these two are now grand-parents, but still pioneers. But the loss to a forest fire is so devastating and must be crushing for our friends. This summer has been hot and firey, with so many forest fires, the province is still in a declared "State of Emergency" across the whole province. We can help in some small way, maybe a quilt will help to heal the loss. Sadly, my hubby and I learned just a few days ago of the loss to our friends' home and barns in Telegraph Creek seen behind our friends who live a rugged life in the remote community of Telegraph Creek. We have know each other for eons it...
